The city is on the East coast nestled on a river mouth where it meets the Atlantic. For reasons that may become clear over time, comic stories such as Batman were never written here. Also omitted are movies like MIB, the X files, most works by Steven King, and so on. While it is not established mainstream belief that ESP or Telepathy exist, there are those who it may. But such works are not common place published. Nobody knows weather things go bump in the night in reality or our minds but there is not a lot of written support of these theories. There are some eccentric folks of course but the stories are not commonly accepted. The biggest group spreading the word in spite of the lack of acceptance are the homeless who seem to go on and on about a group they call Others.
The city is a dark architecture almost gothic feel, both the buildings and People. It has all the major sports representatives, Football: The Murkwood Riders, Basketball: The Murkwood Haze, Baseball: The Murkwood Watchman, Hockey: The Murkwood Mist. Both the Riders and the Watchman have a mascot of an old minute men militia member since the origins of the town take root prior to the revolution an on the heels of the end of the pirate era. The city is built on both sides of a major river. There are seven bridges over the waterway. The two end bridges are draw Bridges and near to the water’s surface. The next inner set is cobblestone but quite high clearance. The next two as you work your way to the center are suspension style. The bridge in the city center is a floating bridge on the water’s surface. The river widens in the center of town and then narrows again at each end. The middle bridge has draw bridge sections on both ends and in the center it passes through the remainder of the hull of the HMS Sovereignty who still lays upon the sand bank that beached her so many hundreds of years ago. Some efforts have been made to preserve her but only minimal ones to maintain her authenticity. Rumor has it her cannons still sit on her main battle deck but to board her and find out carries one of the harshest legal penalties in all of Murkwood Hallow.
While it’s not as brightly lit, the nightlife of Murkwood Hallow could rival Vegas on most weekends but it not believed to be as Influenced by any particular mob. The News rarely seems to have the whole story on many of the nightly stories.
The center bridge is highlighted by the old British ship of the line, the stern is underwater and decaying. The Bow is breached and extends 44 feet above the waterline.
